Sheet music to "Tie Me Kangaroo Down"

Here is the story behind this, from contributing writer David Boutette:

So Scotty,

This is it. This is the story behind the "Tie Me Kangaroo Down" sheet music.

While travelling the Gulf Coast like I do every year from Key West to New Orleans and beyond, I was brought to a place in the Florida Panhandle called Grayton Beach. It's just down the road from where they made The Truman Show.

Near the beach is an old shack that this cat from Belgium turned into a restaurant/jazz club a few years back called "The Red Bar". They have great crab cakes, cool European movie and concert posters that cover every wall, Foster's, and a little corner with old couches surrounding the smokey jazz combos that play there nightly.

The jazz corner is like someone's living room where people of all ages and walks of life converge to listen to great music, chat, drink and make out.

While digesting in a loveseat, I spotted a pile of ancient sheet music on the coffee table. At the top of the pile was "Tie Me Kangaroo Down". I grabbed it and rushed across the red shag to the owner who was teaching his baby daughter to greet guests.

I told him that somebody up North needed this sheet music to survive. He immediately understood and said I could take it as long as I made sure that my friend up North visited the Red Bar one day.

The owner's wife walked by in a sparkling evening gown and kidded that he's giving the whole place away one piece at a time. Retirees and bikers heckled the owner and got back to the business of enjoying the evening.

So Scotty now you know where you gotta go. Rock On Dudeliness,

Dave
